***Chat Notes***

Now that we are back on irc chats all the ones used by webbies should work. Here is a page with the info for the new2msntv2 chat...
http://ca.geocities.com/new2msntvchat/ChatRoom.html

The info for Mirc is Chattacomb.net Port=6667 Room=#New2MSNTV
You can check here at web-nuts for links to the Games4tv weekly chat, and also look at
Starchat,Chattacomb,AfterNet, ChatUniverse ,ChatNet,etc., for rooms.
Just do a google for irc chat rooms or for webtv chat and you should find bunches. Many with
webtv have made pages listing all the irc chats. There is also a chat-irc alt.discuss on webtv(for webtv users) where you can learn to write the code for your own unique chats,or get the c/c/p codes to make one although I am not sure if the hand scripted custom ones will work without tweaking the table codes, and midis won't work.
You can also sign up at places like Network54 where Ricks Cafe is hosted and get a free
account and create your own chatroom which works great for webtv,msntv2,and pc's.

***alt+W will save a graphic from most pages to your album.

***Fast switch/no mouse....Thank's Henry!

menu scroll left , scroll down , then right .

***Remove addys from forwards before sending on:

Here is a SUPER tip posted by Fred (thank's Fred your the BEST!) in the msntv2 group.

From: Fred__W

So I said to my self......."Self"

Well....... There is a way to forward messages with jpg's and edit the text field to delete previous addresses. Took me awhile to figure this one out :~)

Go to hotmail. Bring up the e-mail to be forwarded. At the bottom of the page, you will see 3 mail symbols. Select #3 and click. You will see the virus scan info and be able to ccp/delete any text. :~)

I was also able to do the same at Fastmail, but that is not everyone's cup of tea and I wanted to work with what we have available on this (msntv2) system.

..........fred.

 ***Moving from webtv to msntv2

**The only things transfered automatically when you add an existing webtv user are the mail, favorites folderIM buddies and address book.

PAGEBUILDER pages are NOT transfered!

Make sure everything has been transfered before canceling your webtv subscription.ONLY those addys which end in @webtv.net will be able to transfer/migrate favorite folders.

***The msntv2 can store your graphics in the photo album if they are sent to the 2 as attachments and are jpg's,webtv'ers can change gifs to jpg's and send them to the msntv2 with webfx.

***You have 30 MB of free storage in your MSN Groups!

(A good place to store your photos, just go to the groups homepage and click on tools on the left and follow the prompts and your photos/graphics will be uploaded right to the MSN storage area with no peripherals needed.)

***Before you cancel your webtv subscription take time to get your new box online and make sure all your webtv mail and favs have been migrated and you are happy with tnb. ***WARNING!!!!! Your pagebuilder sites/pages will not be transfered! You will need to move them to a webhost.Check out a few, there are many free like www.250free.com and some great paid ones like www.wtv-zone.com,www.paulding.com,etc.

****Be sure to write the serial number of your box down somewhere in case you need to call customer support if the box is not working/signing on.

***Real Audio is NOT supported by msntv2 and midis are NOT at this time.

*How to use a mouse with TNB (Thank's Babs)*

CC&P is really easy with the mouse. If you want to copy some text from a web page don't use 'find' to highlight the starting word(s).

Just position the mouse pointer (or capital I looking indicator) at the beginning of what you want to copy.

Hold down the left click and drag the mouse along what you want to highight. If you've got several lines to highlight just dragging the mouse down vertically will do whole lines at a time.

Then Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V to copy and paste.

Cmd+A to highlight a whole page,  the vertical drag accomplishes the same thing.

I actually like the mouse method better and find it faster than the shift+arrow way. :-)

*Some things tested and working...* (Thank's Brenda!)

I bought a couple USB peripherals today, and I've been playing around. I got a Logitech Click Cordless USB Mouse, and it works fine. It's just a little hard to control. Lol

I also got a Lexar MutliCard Reader and it works great. I was able to transfer an MP3 from my computer to a Compact Flash card, plug it in and play it from the Card Reader. Neat! :)

I'll have to make up a little playlist and keep it on a CF card for my hubby, so he doesn' t have to mess with music files over the network.

I also bought a Micro Innovations 4 port USB 2 hub. It also works with TNB.

I added a music video (wma) to the CF card, and it played nicely.

Both the mouse and card reader were right at $29 each. The hub ($10) is just a way to have extra USB ports. Think of it as a short extention cord with extra plugins, but for USB, of course. The MultiCard Reader is a 7 in 1. It can read compact flash, memory stick, memory stick pro, smart media, mmc, xd picture card, and sd card. So that's a good selection.

*Changing the First and Last name in emails on main user...* (Thank's Brenda!)

NOTE:TNB puts your real name in the main users email! To change it:

You have to go to www.microsoft.com and scroll down to the very bottom left side of the page. It will have a small link that says "change your profile" You have to change it there.

*Wired Keyboard Adapter* (Thank's Ctyguy!)

The original "Classic" had a ps//2 port to use a real KB. I can't believe the new msntv2 doesn't even have that?

However I have an IR adapter that allows for a real computer KB.

It's called a "Wired Keyboard Adapter" of all things. Model # WTV3. If the company is still in business the address was: Optimized Micro Devices LLC
38 Warren StreetNew London CT 06320-2725 Cost was somewhere around $13 minus 5 to $25 minus 5. It still works, but I prefer the improved IR KB for msntv1. :)

Thank's to all our great members!
